What customers do not understand is that not all items can be returned, and some stores do not have the cards to put store credit on to. Also the sm, asm and associates get counseling from dms on the amount of voids, cancelled transactions and returns. Electronics are specific and mngrs have to educate because gen public assumes all items can be returned, exchanged or recieve credit for. Also, on the associate side there is discretion used because people abuse return policy by stealing receipts out of trash dumpsters and will go into the store find the item and try to get a return for cash or credit. The biggest disbelief is there is someone higher telling the associates how to operate, i personally have seen and over heard this by a dm chewing out an asm and sm for accepting too many returns. Finally, cigarettes cannot be returned because it is supplied to the stores by third party just like alcohol. Unless expired, opened food is a health issue and cannot be returned back in to store. Its also not the associates fault for a customer not making sure they got the right item. Contrary to popular belief, customer is not always right. It requires two sides for a return/refund to occur whether dg fd dt walmart, walgreens, cvs, target ect. Hygiene items, is health regulated items i.e. make up, dental, physical body wear or use consumption. Chemicals i.e. bleach, toxins, detergents, dish wash, motor oil, automotive liquids are regulatory items that once leave the store it cannot be returned.
