I am thoroughly disappointed in dollar generals return policy. I recently was at Dollar General trying to return some clothes that I had purchased for my children a few weeks back. My receipt was wet and damage and you could not make out the print on it. Because of that they would not return my items for a store credit. Instead I was told that I could exchange said items for the exact same items just in a bigger size. Unfortunately for me a few weeks back when I purchased said items we were still in summer. Now we are in winter and they do not have any of the items I purchase on their shelves. Therefore I have a bag full of kids clothes that do not fit my kids that I can do nothing with. In all reality I feel if a person does not have a receipt or their receipt is damaged that a return should be processed for a store credit simply because the store is still receiving their money. I believe that it is unfair that if somebody makes the at a store and simply does not have the receipt or the receipt is damaged that they should be able to exchange those items for items that they need at the same store with a store credit. There are many stores that will take items back and give you store credit without your receipt and I thought Dollar General was one of them, apparently I was wrong. Family Dollar and Dollar Tree both will give a store credit. I will no longer shop at Dollar General simply because I do not care for the return policies and I feel their unjust and wrong.
