I bought two photo frames from Michaels in Ancaster, Ontario last week. One frame had a metal strap attached for hanging and it broke as soon as I lifted the frame up. The other frame was the wrong size. I went back to the store the next day to swop my items. I was told I could not do an exchange and needed to return the items and then re-purchase. At first I couldn't find my receipt and the cashier told me without a receipt they would take 20% off the price I had paid. I was unaware that a policy like this exsisted. I then found my receipt so she gave me a refund on my frames. At first I thought she was just going to exchange them but she gave me a refund instead. I asked her to get the frames for me and she refused. I went back to the frame section and found the frames I wanted. I went back to the same cashier and I gave her a $100 bill. She told me a Manager had to check the note before she could accept it. I waited ten minutes. She checked the bank note and then I was told that they did not have change for the $100 bill and that people don't pay with bills anymore. I ended up paying by debit card. I would not shop there again. Terrible service and I'm sure it's not legal to do the 20% deduction without a receipt.
