I received a gift (without a gift receipt) of clothing that I did not want. I was able to determine that the item came from Shopko so I attempted to return it to them. The key word here is attempted because the situation did not go well.
I approached the customer service desk and politely told the woman that I would like to return this item because it didn't fit right. I told her that it had been a gift and I did not have a reciept. She asked if I had a Shopko savings card and I said that I did but she wouldn't find the it under me because it had been a gift. Then she asked if the person who gave it to me had a savings card. I said I had no idea. Then she asked me for their phone number. I told her I did not have it with me (which I didn't but even if I did I would not give out someone else's information without their permission). Then she said well there was nothing she could do. I asked if she could give me an in store credit even if it was for the lowest price and she said no! I confirmed that they were unwilling to work with me and was told that if I could not provide the receipt, the credit card used to purchase it, the persons who bought its phone number or Shopko savings card number there was nothing she could do. I asked what if the person doesn't have a Shopko savings card and they paid cash. She said that if a person can not produce one of the previous mentioned items, then Shopko will not take and item back - period!!!
So, I guess Shopko doesn't believe that cash is ever used anymore, that everyone provides a receipt when they give someone a gift, and that everyone has a Shopko in their hometown and loves it so much that they can't live without a savings card. By the way, I looked at a Shopko receipt that I have from one of my past purchases and there is no information what so ever regarding their return policy. Kind of narrow minded and egotistical thinking as far as I'm concerned. I will now go out of my way to make sure I never give Shopko any of my business and I will make sure friends, family and co-workers are aware of Shopko philosophy.
