I booked an all inclusive trip including flights for my wife and i to punta cana through expedia in sept 2014. When arriving friday morning at the airport 2.5 hours early to check in bags, i was notified by the AA agent that my boarding passes were wrong. At that point the AA agent notified me that expedia booked my flights with my middle name as my last and my last as my middle. So my tickets didn't match my passport and the AA could not issue my boarding passes unless Expedia reissued my flights under my correct name. The AA agent could not do this because i booked through Expedia and it had to come from their end. I call the expedia customer service department 2 hours before my flight and was informed it would take only 10-15 minutes. After being put on hold multiple times for extended periods and being told they are having trouble with their program we missed our flights. So then i asked to have my flights rebooked to get us to our destination and was told i would have to pay for a new round of flights that would cost $1600 and be charged $200 change fee per person. All they would give me is a $475 credit for my missed flights. when i asked when the earliest flight they can get us on they told me sat evening arriving at lunchtime on sunday. I then had to either decide to cancel my entire trip and eat the original cost or book new round trip flights directly through AA which could get us there the next day at lunchtime for an out of pocket expense of $2200 which is what we decided to do. How do i handle this situation and do i have any chance at getting reimbursed for the original flights that were cancelled and the 1 day i missed on my trip. Trying to figure out whats the best way to attack this situation. Please Help and email responses. thanks
