I shop at Walmart a lot. I have receipts from purchases on 02/20/2020 for $469.20, 03/21/2020 for $266.07, 03/27/2020 for $100.16 and from 04/18/2020 for $270.22. I went to Walmart on 05/16/2020 bringing these receipts and the merchandise I wanted to return. From 02/20 I have a return totaling $24.67. From 03/21 the return is worth $7.49 and 03/27 worth $11.24. and the 04/18 return totals $30.97. I went because I was down to 6 days remaining of this recipes 90 day return period. I was darn surprised when the person behind the customer service desk said they were not taking returns for apparel or any over-the-counter type item but would be again at some point and not to worry because the return period would be extended. I said I was at the end of my return period and she said I would be able to return it because they were going to extend the 90 day period to another 90 days after they started taking them again. Do you think I doubted that I would be able to return them in an extended period? Heck, yes I did.
So it seems Walmart changed their return policy without providing proper notice to the consuming public, failing to disclose this new policy adequately as well as breached their sales contract with us, since there was no signage or announcement, we purchased our newly non-returnable items believing that they were indeed returnable. In effect allowing us to believe the items had qualities they did not have.
So now here it is July 21. Today I looked into whether Walmart had begun to accept the restricted items and yes, they had. Oh, well back on June 15. Guess I lost a month of my new 90 day return period. But wait. Go to their website so you can understand what is what. I copied this directly from corporate.walmart.com.

"Any items that were temporarily not permitted for return and were purchased between April 20 and June 15 can now be returned though Sept. 15 with a receipt. Items from those categories purchased before April 20 will have the normal return window of 90 days applied."

Note the word normal. Turns out if your purchases are from before April 20, the NORMAL 90 day return period that ran, in the case of my 04/18 purchase from 04/20 to 07/19. Except of that 90 days, 56 days fall into the period of time that they were not taking returns on these items. And of course because I did not hypervigiliently check Walmarts return policy on a daily basis, I missed the remaining 34 days from 06/15 to 07/21. Thats not extending the return period!! Just wait patiently for the time to come when they will take these back? Good thing I didn't hold my breath. Whoever decided how this was to be extended doesn't get it what was implied and expressed in the spoken word by Walmart employees and what was posted on the website when the change was implemented.
Walmart has been quoted on numerous occasions referring to starting your return online then laying out the new extension of time.

"It's easy and may allow you to complete your return without coming to the store," Walmart says in its temporary return policy change, adding that for items that can't be returned online, that once "returns reopen for impacted categories, we will be extending the return period by six weeks for those items." and here;

Walmart says if you can't return the item online don't worry, once returns reopen for impacted categories the return/exchange period will be extended by six weeks for those items.

No mention of purchases having to be made after 04/20 as being the magic date for the 6 week extension. Can't say I didn't know this would happen. Can't say you didn't know this would happen. I'll just mention here that there has been a Class Action suit filed against Walmart in California. You know sometimes I get tired of my business being taken for granted and screwed out of my money. I'll bet you feel the same!
