I purchased a $200 baby jogger off of friend's online baby registry. It had to be returned. My husband returned it to the nearest store still in original packaging with the receipt and card that was used on line. After giving the clerk his credit card and driver's license, he was given a gift card which I assumed could be used on line. After two hours searching through infant/toddler books online (website very slow) and inputting gift card number, a message on screen appears telling me I can't use this card online. I have never in my life NOT been able to use a gift card online. You would think after giving them all of your personal information you could use the card anywhere in the world.

My kids are young adults now. I haven't had to shop at a Toys r Us in years. Many memories of shopping at the holidays in New York City and our local Toys r Us. But this experience brings some light to why the chain is going out of business. I wanted to purchase books for my friends baby as an Easter gift. I don't think it will be worth a trip to the Toys r Us store on a Saturday with the possibility of being hassled for using this card!

Consumers have many choices now.
