Ikea Return Policy

Ikea requires a receipt for all exchanges and returns. Refunds are given in the same manner that items were paid for. For instance, a customer who has paid cash will be given a cash refunded, and those who have paid with a credit card will have the refund amount credited back to their card. Mattresses, however, are only eligible for exchange. Photo ID will be required for all exchanges and refunds. Merchandise accepted for exchange and return should be unused, and in the original packaging. Consumers requesting refunds or exchanges should do so within 90 days of purchase.

Merchandise purchased online or over the phone can be returned under the same conditions as described above. However, shipping and and handling charges may apply.

IKEA did not refund the full amount of sales tax for my returned purchase. They refunded just over half of the tax, which I didn't notice until I got home. It is impossible to deal with customer support at this company and I don't think I will ever buy anything there again - too many horror stories.

Do not buy from Ikea. They say after literrally calling over 50 times that you wanted a refund but they still not refunded me over 1900 dollars in money. Every time you call customer service they tell you a different lie.

I bought 2 Billie bookcases went to p/u and it was insane!! Waited over 45 minutes in a drive up and hadn't moved more than 2 cars (had about 20 cars in front of us)had to leave! Was still charged NO REFUND as it stated it would be returned and refunded if not P/U in 24 hours!!! Not happy with IKEA!!!

I cancelled my online order on sep 9 and then reordered. But I couldnt get my refund for the cancelled order. 20 days passed and couldnt talk with anyone about it.

I placed a order online on September 1st, 20minutes later realized there is a mistake regarding one of the bed frame, so called immediately to cancel the order. 16 days later, no refund has been received, called six times, spoke to six different Ikea people, All giving me different information about the refund time. Very disappointed! Worst customer service ever encountered!

Purchased a cot on Sunday, assembled it on Monday am, soon realised the wood used could potentially creat splinters. Went the next day to return it without dismantling it. Ikea refused to give me a full refund. I tried to talk to the customer service asking for the full refund. My request was also rejected.
Please be very careful with Ikea's return policy as it is very vague and the claim of 365 days seems very attractive but unfortunately the minute you open the package you have very little rights if any at all even when the item doesn't meet the minimum requirement such as safety.

I cancelled an order over two weeks ago and still waiting for a refund. When I call the IKEA service department my call gets dropped. Do not shop there follow-up service is terrible.

If the item is defective and cannot be put together, does IKEA pay for the return shipment? Nothing in their return policy addresses this. Of course that would only happen if they respond to my online return request by email....

I had IKEA come and pick up a malm dresser from my home for a recall back in February 2019. I am pregnant so I chose this option instead of going into the store. Its may 2019 now and I've been calling every week for my refund check. I had 2 girls tell me my check was already sent out back in March and April it would only take up to 6 to 8 weeks to get it. Its $200 I've been waiting for to put towards my new baby and till this day I havent received my check. Who do I need to talk to over there? It's so upsetting that they give u issues when u return in the store I was told pick up was way easier.

IKEA has the WORST customer service. Called several times but not able to talk to a customer representative. On September 8, 2018 I rejected an item during delivery as it was damaged. Its been over a month and have not received a refund and cannot even talk to any IKEA personal as the call gets disconnected stating the call volume is heavy than normal and to visit the website. I'm trying to reach them since a week and the same message is given. Does anyone know if we can contact them via email? Please help. I feel IKEA is fraud company that takes customers money and never refunds it.

I brought a dresser that had been on the recall list to your location and instead of getting $59.00 cash I was told id get a check in the mail in about1-2 weeks. I still have not recieved a check and it's been a month. I need my money!

Placed order on 05/26/18, with delivery on 6/12/18, cancelled order on 06/04, as customer didn't want to wait that long. So went to Ikea store in Orlando and modified renovation. I have spent more than 4 hours on hold attempting to get a 148.00 refund beginning on 6/6/18 and continuing until today, 7/2/18. Been on hold for "supervisors" multiple times. I realize 148.00 is not a lot of money, but it is the lack and care of customer service that is beyond my understanding. I've spent nearly 12,000.00 on Ikea products for our small interior design company. But, based on this experience, and lack of support, I no longer trust Ikea, which, I recommended Ikea to soooooo many people, inspite of the drive. I will take my small business elsewhere. Also, as a footnote, I'm still on hold as I write.

I've spent over 16 hours on the phone will Ikea trying to get a refund for a cancelled order! With every phone call I get different answers,but never the refund I'm requesting. Ikea blames the shipping company,called them several times and they are just as clueless. Bottom line, Ikea has my money,I have no product! Sounds like Ikea is running a really good scam and getting away with it! No other company I've ever done business with has treated me like this. This is absolutely the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. Why they can't simply refund my money in a timely manner is completely beyond any logic I can think of. However, I'm going to keep fighting for my lousy $188.because it's just wrong to treat your customers this way! Please do not do business with Ikea, don't let them scam you out of your hard earned money!

I went into the store to return 5 recalled dressers and they were asked ng me dozen of questions ask for all 3 of my family members IDs because they wr with me to return they items!!! They said they had no money!!! So they would send me a check!!I waisted my hole day taking them in to the store for them to send me a check and till today i have not received thecheck and it's been 6 weeks...they say if they pick upthey will send u a. Check if u take them in cash!! Bull and ver racist ppl too...

I placed an order online and cancelled the next day because I decided to pick up instead of use delivery. Nearly 2 month's later I'm still wAiting on my $600+ refund! I've called multiple times and, after waiting on hold for over an hour, am alwYs told that it's being processed. The first person told me it would be 3-5 days. The second said 7-14. I'd say 2 months is ample time to process a refund of the money they do quickly too from me! I just want to know how to get my money back.

IKEA does alot to keep people coming in to their stores, but their customer service is HORRIBLE !!! Placed an order 04/02/18 and were not told until the truck showed up that three items were on backorder and they would be refunding us the money as they were not able to tell us when the dressers would be available again! Today is 05/16/18 - 6+ weeks and we're still waiting for our hundreds of dollars to be refunded!!!

Purchased twin bed on April 2, 2018, item never delivered as promised. I cancelled order due to non delivery on April 22, 2018, 11 days have past and still no refund. The customer service department is the worst of the worst, buyer beware! I definitely DO NOT RECOMMED doing business with IKEA.

placed $508.98 order on 4/11-charged to my card on 4/12. Delivery date was 5/17 *maybe* so i spent over 2 hours on hold to cancel the order. Since it was never shipped, should not be an issue, right?

WRONG. i am once again currently on hold for 50 minutes to ask why i was given a case number if these idiots are not able to refund money for an order never shipped.

Ikea is the worst. i will never consider them again.

Ikea lies in saying that refund checks are offered for items recalled. After more than 25 hours on the phone, 7 months, and numerous emails, I have not received my check. Ikea claims to have mailed the check but I have never received a check in spite of them having 'mailed it' five times, without a tracking number.
My friends have had a similar experience meaning the recall is probably a scam.

Ikea, you are the WORST. I cancelled my order the day I made it -- and it's been over a month waiting, over 5 hours on the phone with fake promises that it would be within 48 hours credited back. What the hell are these people doing. Never again.

Dead relatives are easier to get in touch with. Returned items over 2 months ago, called numerous times, waited on hold for likely over 10 hours (cumulative) and still nothing. Great products and very easy to buy...just hope you never have to use their "customer service." Awful!!!!

By the way, Ikea, the definition for the word shortly is "In a short time, soon" and the definition for momentarily is "for a very short time." I have been listening to you repeat these two words for many hours of my life. Either look them up and correct the problem or just level with people and say, "you'll likely be on hold for the remainder of you day."

I will NEVER order from IKEA again. Ordered a table and 4 chairs in mid-November, received an incomplete order a week later than expected on December 12. After 7 calls to customer service (one to a supervisor), and multiple assurances that it would be handled in 3 to 4 days, I'm still waiting for the return credit on my card. I confirmed with Fed Ex that the merchandise was received back at IKEA on December 29. STILL no refund as of today, January 20. Every phone call took 45 minutes to get a human, then the human reviews notes and makes promises. So, at least an hour for every call, times 7 calls. NEVER AGAIN. How do I get my refund??

Stay away from IKEA. I canceled an order the day after I placed it; now, three weeks later, the charge for $2260.91 is still on my credit card. Forget trying to call IKEA. I have tried three times and hung up after being on hold for thirty minutes each time. There simply is no customer service with IKEA.
I have a cancellation number which I will give to my credit card company after thirty days have passed. Perhaps Bank of America can get something done.
Like I said before, STAY AWAY FROM IKEA.

I returned an item in August 2017 that I received in July 2917. After 4 phone calls and promises to be reimbursed I have still not received payment on my credit card for $ 348.00, after almost 6 months. I was given a Claim # 3649072. At this time I do not know how to resolve this situation and am running out of patience. I have never had so much difficulty and been given the run around as I have with IKEA.

Horrible customer service!!! It has been two weeks since I returned my mattress but I have not been reimbursed. Of course, it is impossible to reach anyone at the customer service number- waited 3 hours to speak to someone for no avail.

My daughter 9 months pregnant bought a mattress for the babies bed not knowing Ikea's sizing are different. Currently in the middle of moving into her own house and lost the receipt. She drove back to IKEA half hour drive to be told no receipt no refund or credit note...she messaged me upset I told her to ask for the manager...just messaged back got the cash back!!!!!

Purchased a sofa and assembled it. The cushions are horrific it's like sitting on concrete ... return policy says for assembled items you can only get credit..... why? When we tested sofa in store it was cushiony not this hard cardboard.

02.04.2017 Purchased Myrbacka latex mattress from Ikea SanDiego. Was told it was going on sale for Ikea Family on 02.08.2017 to 02.28.2017 and if I swiped my Ikea Family card, I would receive a 15% discount. I returned to the store on 02.09.2017 and swiped my card, but never received the discount. I called customer service, only to now hear I need to go to the refund/returns desk for my credit. 3 hours of heavy traffic again. Not happy.

Will never buy from Ikea again. I order a table on-line and paid $40.00 for shipping. I received the wrong item. I called 3 times, only to be put on hold for about 45 minutes to an hour, before anyone answered. Then they told me I had to return the item to the store. The nearest store is 3 hours away and I won't get my shipping cost refunded, for their error. Very poor customer service.

IKEA is great if you require no help with an order, and need no help after the fact with delivery issues, damaged product, etc. Customer Service is non existent, after numerous phone calls, on hold for hours, etc., I've come to picture a room with one person in front of a computer playing games. I believe THAT is "Customer Service" for the entire IKEA world wide company.

Tried to return items delivered in error to my address. Even took them to Southampton store, non of the staff would take them back even though I explained that they weren't mine, didn't want a refund, just wanted to return their property. Was eventually sent to the customer service desk, via the checkout! Where I had to explain to two other staff members that I wasn't trying to buy them and just wanted to hand them back. I was treated like a thief and escorted to the customer service desks, where only one member of staff was dealing with a large queue of returns. Only to be told that I now needed to take a ticket and wait my turn. This is the point where I stuffed as much of the stuff into a bin, rested the remainder against it and left.

... the were not permitted to remove. Anyways, I had them take it away with them - I think they classified it as "refused delivery". Anyways, I have been on hold for 3hrs now (and counting). Chat was too busy also. I have emailed in the meantime. After ewading these comments I am not very optimistic anymore about getting my refund.

... I had read the comments on CustomerService Scoreboard before buying from IKEA. I bought about $3200 of stuff on line. I found the quality good, no problems with assembly, and a great value for the money, but heaven help you if anything goes wrong!... told to leave a message. No one has ever returned my call. Their computer chat system explained that ... ago has not even elicited an automated acknowledgement. Overall, IKEA demonstrates the poorest, most frustrating, and least responsive ... "service" that I have ever encountered anywhere. I can't imagine ever buying from Ikea again.

...to threaten legal action just to get them to pick up the boxes that they delivered, because they sent two of the same box rather than box 1 of ... my fault! This goes beyond terrible customer service, it's torture. Still no refund. It is impossible to get ahold of them. NEVER USE IKEA. I ended up buying a much nicer dresser, same price, came fully...

... full size and have had nothing but a hassle with it. First they delivered only part of the bed (it was NOT on back order). After 30 minutes.... We spent 2 weeks on that before Ikea finally resent the missing items to the shipping company, which then delivered them. I payed $59 for local delivery at the IKEA shop in East Palo Alto. One table had a defect with painting and called them for exchange. That was the only time I was able to talk to a human CS representative. She said I ... selection, ring back tone. If you have any problem with products from IKEA it would be almost impossible to contact them over the phone.

I recently bought a Hemnes TV stand from IKEA. I was super excited since it was the last piece of furniture I needed ... frustrating experience I've had putting together IKEA furniture. I looked at the return policy and it doesn't account for unclear instructions that lead to... could do and they told me they don't give refunds for incorrect assembly, even if a customer is unsatisfied with the product. I will not be purchasing IKEA furniture again. Ever....
